Yangon Chief Minister will try to prevent power outages

Yangon Region government Chief Minister, Phyo Min Thein, has said that he would try his best to provide better services in supplying electricity to the people in Yangon Region this coming summer season. He was speaking at a press conference held at Yangon Electric Power Corporation on 31 May.
This press conference was attended by foreign and domestic media and was held to explain frequent power outages in Yangon Region and the government’s plan to supply uninterrupted power.
The government said that underground cable faults and overhead cable faults resulted in power outages in Yangon and they were under repair and maintenance but power outages and load shedding would continue in the near future.
According to the Yangon Electric Power Corporation, power consumption in Yangon Region is 1,150 MW which is over half of the total power consumption of the entire nation.
