Irish lead singer of U2 Bono and his family took time out over the new year holiday break to visit Myanmar and stay in Bagan.
Bono brought his family to the Bagan Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort in Bagan, according to the hotel in a post on Facebook this week.
“Bono, world famous singer from U2, has been staying with us during his new year holiday in Bagan, Myanmar. It is a photo with our F&B staff,” the hotel said.
Bono is no stranger to Myanmar. He has had a long-term interest in Aung San Suu Kyi and the drive for democracy in the country. He is said to have dedicated the band’s 2002 award-winning song “Walk On” to Suu Kyi who at the time was under house arrest.
The Irish rock band U2, formed in 1976, is popular around the world, one of the best-selling groups of all time. Several of the band’s songs have political themes.
