Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Minister Dr Aung Thu said that government staff members need to change their old and bad mindset and should work to show their talent and caliber.
Dr Aung Thu said these words at the International Co-operatives Day held on July 4 at the Cooperatives Department Office in Nay Pyi Taw.
“It’s time to change the old and bad mindset, behaviour and habit of the government employees. They should change their old habit and mindset of ‘no work, no mess, no dismissal’ in their work. They should work bravely in what they must do. So use your capabilities and caliber in your jobs,” Dr Aung Thu said at the ceremony.
Dr. Aung Thu referred to the old concept of some government employees that he claimed was deeply rooted in their minds: “If you do not work, there will be no problem and you will not be dismissed from your job.”
Moreover, Dr Aung Thu directed the Cooperatives Department executives and staff to work with transparency to win the trust of the people.
“The staff should work hard for winning the trust of the people on the department’s work and to overcome their mistrust and misunderstanding in the past in the department,” he added.
Cooperatives societies were established in 42,000 villages out of total over 60,000 villages in the country and they are issuing small loans to help the people.
Dr Aung Thu said: “This microfinance will be issued continuously and then the members of these cooperative societies will receive the required investment in time. These microfinance loans need to be used specifically in their businesses.”
