Joint Monitoring Committee meeting held in Naypyitaw

The post-NCA Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) held a meeting in Naypyidaw on 14 November according to a post on the Karen National Union’s official Facebook page.
The intention of the meeting was to negotiate the Joint Monitoring System and Terms of Reference at both State and Local levels including the Verification Team’s terms of reference, complaint mechanisms and conflict resolution, the post said.
The meeting will be held over 2 days and aimed to finish on the 15th November 2015.
Following this meeting, the team will join the Joint Implementation and Coordination Meeting (JICM) on 17-18 November in Naypyidaw.
The EAOs - JMC members are representatives from the 8 Ethnic signatory groups. These meetings are all part of the process of the implementation of the NCA that was signed in October 2015.
