Myanmar's government forces clashed with the Klo Htoo Baw Karen Organization (KKO), during a search operation in Kawkareik, Kayin state over the weekend, an official report said Monday according to Xinhua on 20 July.
The armed forces, including its Kayin Border Guard Force, seized assorted weapons, bombs, bullets, landmines and ammunition during the fight to the east and west of Kaungmu village, Kawkareik.
Last week, there were clashes between the two sides when government forces came under attack by heavy weapon fired from the KKO in the urban ward of Kawkareik which they were patrolling after reopening two roads occupied by the KKO.
Since fighting erupted between government forces and the small armed group earlier this month government forces have been able to clear the Myawaddy-Kawkareik road section.
