The final framework for political dialogue was submitted to President U Thein Sein at the Myanmar International Convention Centre in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, according to the Global New Light of Myanmar on 17 December.
In his speech, the president spoke of his government’s commitment to ending 60 years of internal armed conflict, stressing that the restoration of peace will provide a solid foundation for a democratic system.
The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw has already unanimously approved the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), which the president called a product of mutual trust, adding that the ceasefire agreement is more of a political assurance than a truce.
