Video films starring famous actors are set to be produced by equally famous directors to raise funds for cyclone victims. The productions would commence from Thursday.
The stories would be based on the lives of families shattered by the cyclone and the proceeds from the sale of these video films would go to the cyclone victims' charity fund. The productions would be financed by the Myanmar Film Association.
"All the proceeds from the sale of these films will go to the charity fund for the cyclone victims. It is only for fund raising," an information official of the Myanmar Film Association said.
These productions would be led by Myanmar Film Association Chairman U Myint Thein Pe himself and the stories would be based on how families have been separated, on the deaths and on the homeless. All the films would be based on true stories and would be produced within two months and put on sale.
These films would be directed by famous directors namely Maung Myo Min, Mike Ti, Mi Pwar, Kyaw Zaw Linn, Maung Thi, Nyi Nyi Aung (Nyunt Myanmar) and Ko Zaw (Dawn). The stars would be actors Lu Min and Lwin Moe, actresses Eindra Kyaw Zin and Khine Thin Kyi. The actors have decided not to charge remuneration for their work. There would be many supporting actors and actresses, who would be paid a token amount for their roles in these films.
"We have heard that the supporting actors and actresses will be paid a little bit," wife of comedian Nghet Pyaw Kyaw (fried banana) said.
An information official from the Myanmar Film Association said all these productions were being hurriedly arranged without submitting them to the Censor Board for pre-production censorship due to time constraint and to raise funds as quickly as possible.
"We do not need to submit them for censorship as these are not films, just video productions. We have arranged all these within two days. Even our Chairman does not know which director would film which video," he said.
It has been learnt that Chairman U Myint Thein Pe would inform the Ministry of Information, which actors and actresses would take part in these productions.
All the actors, actresses, directors and technicians totalling about 300 people gathered at the Myanmar Film Association office at 2 p.m. yesterday and left for Pyin Oo Lwin in six cars.
The producers selected the usual and familiar site of Pyin Oo Lwin (May) for shooting due to security reasons and also due to the current heavy rainfall in Rangoon.
Most of the videos would be shot within 10 days.
