The new Miss Universe 2015, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines, has posted a Facebook photo with Miss Myanmar, May Thaw, calling her “my roommate and friend.”
The photo gained more than 2,000 comments and about 146,000 "likes" three hours after it was posted (http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/548957/lifestyle/miss-universe-shar...).
"My roommate and friend, May Thaw, Miss Myanmar, came by my room before she left to say goodbye. I gave her my last pearl earrings to keep and remember me by,” she wrote.
May Thaw, 25, was born in Yangon.  She previously competed in the Miss International Myanmar 2014 contest and placed 1st Runner-up. She was named Miss Myanmar in 2015.
Controversy hounded the recently concluded Miss Universe pageant after a mix up in the announcement of the winners by comedian host Steve Harvey, who initially announced Miss Colombia as the winner instead of Wurtzbach.
