The Myanmar Fisheries Federation (MFF) on Tuesday adopted preventive and risk management measures to be followed by fish farmers to mitigate possible losses resulting from this year’s expected El Niño, the Global New Light of Myanmar reported on 25 February.
An eight-point preparedness and response plan for farmers dealing with aquaculture business across the country was released following a meeting at the federation’s office in Yangon.
The preventive measures will help the fish and shrimp farming industry to reduce the impact of El Niñoon the country’s fishery output which is expected to fall due to excessive heat this year, Daw Toe Nanda Tin of the federation was quoted as saying.
