The National League for Democracy (NLD) voters list examination group (Kayin State) official Daw Nan Khin Htway Myint told Mizzima on 15 June that they do not have enough time to examine and amend the voters lists.
The NLD voters list examination group (Kayin State) has been examining voters lists in townships in Kayin State, according to the NLD (Kayin State).
“There are many people who are not on voters lists’’, said Daw Nan Khin Htway Myint,“In a Quarter, according to a list stuck on a board, there are 6,000 eligible voters. When we checked the voters list against the household lists, we found that 500 people [who should be eligible voters] were not in the voters list. But we don’t have enough time to amend the voters lists.”
Daw Nan Khin Htway Myint said that their examination group has examined the lists and have collected required facts which will be submitted to the relevant electoral commissions in order to amend the voters lists in Kayin State. 
The Hpa-an Township election commission chairman U Thaung Tun told Mizzima, “The day before we stuck the lists on boards, we informed the Quarters. Everyone who should be eligible for the elections will be included in the lists.”
There are Hpa-an, Hlaingbwe, Hpapun, Thantaung, Thantaung Gyi, Myawaddy, Kawkareik, Kyone Doe, Kyain Seikgyi, Payathonsu, Kyaikdo townships in Kayin State. Voters lists in those townships have been stuck on boards from June 8 to 21.
The Union Election Commission [UEC] has announced that the last voters lists of the whole country will be announced in August, and the voters lists can be amended at that time
The UEC chairman U Tin Aye has said that political parties and civil society organizations can cooperate with the UEC and the relevant electoral sub-commissions in order that the voters lists are accurate and exact.
Meanwhile, the NLD planned to meet with civil society organizations (those working on electoral issues) at Sagawa Hall, Diamond Condominium in Kamayut Township on 17 June in order to seek cooperation on various affairs including that of voters lists.
In the 2010 elections, there were more than 29 million eligible voters (estimated population was 57 million at that time), announced the then-UEC.
