With mobile penetration rates in Myanmar continuing to soar, a new website has been launched to provide consumers with the latest news and reviews of smartphones and associated gadgets.
The Myanmar language website inmya.com was launched at the end of May after being conceived of by its creators in January, according to a press release received June 10.
One of its main aims is to teach even the most tech-savvy customer new tricks, says its founder Mike Than Tun Win.
“Myanmar’s market is hungry for new products and knowledge – consumers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their tastes and are keen to discover the latest innovations in telecoms technology,” said Mike Than Tun Win, who also founded the online travel ticketing portal flymya.com in June last year.
However, Mike Than Tun Win said that the quality of information available in the Myanmar language hasn’t kept pace with the new products available for consumers to purchase following the end of the decades long state monopoly over the telecoms sector.
inmya.com is said to have a sleek, easy to navigate design that highlights all the latest products to hit the virtual shelves with accompanying reviews – as well as a user-friendly price comparison feature. It is one of the very few websites to provide information exclusively in the Myanmar language.
“Many Burmese people are buying their first smartphones and the choice can be overwhelming. Our goal at inmya.com is to provide the information needed to make the right decision according to an individual’s functional needs and budget,” said Mike Than Thun Win, who returned to his native country of Myanmar in 2010 after a successful business career in Singapore.
While inmya.com may not be the first website of its kind to make its debut in Myanmar, aiming to outflank its direct and indirect rivals by being a go-to source for price comparisons, tech news, reviews and a comprehensive product database, according to the press release.
Also on the cards for inmya.com is the integration with an online e-commerce site so that customers can read products news and reviews and buy a new phone at the same time.
