An impressive array of regional industry leaders are scheduled to speak at a hospitality and tourism conference planned in Myanmar.
The conference will be held in the capital Nay Pyi Taw on June 8 to June 10 and will feature senior executives from the Dusit, Kempinski and Centara hotel groups.
The third edition of the conference, first held in 2013, will focus on issues such as Myanmar’s investment climate; development of the country’s overall hospitality sector; and the human resources “challenges”, said organisers Sphere Conferences of Singapore.
Planning for the conference comes as the Myanmar Tourism Federation announced it is seeking to establish a tourism development bank.
Minister for hotels and tourism Htay Aung said last week (May 8) that foreign investment is currently helping 47 hotels and the main investor countries are Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Britain and the United Arab Emirates.
Speakers at the June conference include the director of development at the Dusit group, Ryan Chen; the general manager of the Kempinski Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, Franck Droin; the vice president of Centara International Management, Suparat Chirathivat; and Gonzalo Maceda, vice president for development in Asia Pacific with Melia Hotels International.
