Authorities have reduced the length of stay for tourists who wish to travel to Bagan’s ancient region beginning this month, said U Myint Than, Deputy-Director of the Archaeology and National Museum Department, state media has reported.
Authorities will not reduce the Ks25,000 entrance fee for tourists at Bagan, but will shorten the length of time allowed to visit from five days to three days. Bagan hosted over 13,000 tourists in 2017 and has welcomed over 10,300 tourists so far this year.
The reduced length of stay went into effect on 1 July as authorities were coordinating agreements with related ministries.
