Myanmar Railways has pushed back the deadline to submit an “expression of interest” to upgrade the Yangon Central Railway Station to Jan. 6. The upgrade will include transportation interchanges, commercial buildings, hotels and recreational areas.
“Many companies have submitted expressions of interests but only a few impressed us,”said U Tun Aung Thin, general manager of Myanmar Railway, according to Myanmar Business Today.
The upgrade will include a 20-storey, mixed-use complex.
Meanwhile, upgrades to Pazundaung and Kyimyindaing railway stations have also been planned.
Companies from Myanmar, Malaysia, Italy, South Korea, Qatar, France, Japan, Singapore, Canada and Vietnam have expressed interest in the central railway station project.
Myanmar Railways stopped the selection process in July, saying the proposals did not meet the selection criteria.
