A Labour activist association called ‘Labour Power Group’ led by Chairman Kyaw Myo Htay said that there were about 20 factories at which workers lodged complaints for having weaknesses in observing COVID-19 regulations and protocols and their association presented these complaints to the Township Factories and General Labour Law Inspection Department.

The chief complaints lodged by workers include use of crowded buses in commuting to factories, no social distancing at factory gates in entering the factories.

“Most of the factories are from Mingladon including garment factories and also other factories,” Kyaw Myo Htay said.

Since there were some difficulties in lodging the complaints, there should be mechanism to handle these complaints and all must obey these rules in concerted efforts in accordance with COVID regulations and protocols for sustainable running of these businesses, he added.
