U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs visits Rakhine

A delegation led by Mr. David Hale, the United States’ Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, met separately with the Speaker of the Rakhine State Hluttaw and members of the Muslim community in Sittway yesterday, state media reported.

The Under Secretary first met with the Muslim community, led by U Shwe Hla, at the Maddaya Sa Eisalar Miya School in Aung Mingalar Ward, Sittway, and held a discussion with them. Next, they visited the Rakhine State Hluttaw and met with State Hluttaw Speaker U San Kyaw Hla and Deputy Speaker U Mya Than.

They discussed matters relating to the citizenship issue of Muslims and peaceful solutions for the conflicts in Rakhine State.
