UEC requests all political parties and representative candidates to obey electoral directives

Myanmar's Union Election Commission (UEC) has requested all political parties and parliament representative candidates to obey the electoral directives in their election campaigns and to urge their parties' members and supporters to follow the prescribed guidelines, Xinhua reported.

According to the announcement, the political parties and parliament representative candidates are also asked to abide the code of conduct for political parties and candidates, the standard operating procedure for prevention and control of COVID-19, and the healthcare regulations and guidelines issued by relevant authorities.

The Ministry of Health and Sports has issued the order in organizing electoral gatherings and campaign activities, it is required to observe the following guidelines, maximum 50 people for one time with a distance of six feet between each person, an area of 36 square feet for each person, and a location of good ventilation.
