Two more sectors will be added in ease of doing business index

Team leader of Progress of Ease of Doing Business Ranking and Deputy Minister of Economics and Commerce Aung Htoo said that they would add two more sectors in ranking ‘Ease of Doing Business’ next year.

The two more sectors are government tender bidding process and labour rights.

Currently, the index is based on sub-indices of starting a business, dealing with construction permits, getting electricity, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency.

But in the coming year, government’s tender and the bidding sector will be considered accurately.

Currently Ease of Doing Business progress working team and supporting teams for each sub-index have been created and two more supporting teams for these two new sub-indices will be added.

In the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ report annually published by World Bank, Myanmar ranked 171 out of total 190 countries last year and this year it jumped by six ranks to 165th.
