The Mandalay Region government has allowed some hoteliers in Bagan, an ancient city, to open again, said U Win Aung, the Deputy Director of the Department of Hotel and Tourism Administration.

As of this writing, a total of 21 hotels in Bagan have been allowed to open.

There are 107 hotels and guesthouses in Bagan. Owners of 50 hotels applied for permission to re-open their hotels.

The Department of Hotel and Tourism Administration inspected those hotels to know whether they follow the COVID-19 related measures or not, and then gave permission on June 9.
