So-called nationalists Michael Kyaw Myint and Thiha Myo Naing were produced before the South Dagon Township court on June 14 for allegedly inciting religious unrest.
In this South Dagon incident an unruly crowd of about 100 led by Michael Kyaw Myint came to places where Muslims were offering their prayer on May 15 in the evening in 106, 64 and 26 Wards of this South Dagon Township. They inspected the sites and then forced Muslim elders to sign a bond pledging not to offer prayers at these sites from now on.
The township administrator registered a case against them under section 505(b) of Penal Code (public mischief) on May 15 as prosecutor.
South Dagon Township court public relation officer Sandar Myint told media, “The two accused were produced before the court today. Advocate Aung Myo submitted criminal attorney power to represent Thiha Myo Naing in this case. We fixed next hearing for June 21, 2019 for the examining prosecutor and one prosecution witness on that day.”
