State EC and political parties agree to submit request to hold elections in four Rakhine townships

Rakhine State Election Commission and Rakhine political parties agreed to present their submission for holding elections in four townships in Rakhine State where the Union Election Commission (UEC) cancelled elections.

In this submission they agreed to hold elections in Pauktaw Township constituency, Maungdaw urban area and southern area, Sittwe and some wards and village-tracts in Toungup.

At the electoral negotiation and coordination meeting held at Rakhine State EC on October 26, they agreed to present this submission for holding elections in these constituencies. This meeting was attended by responsible officials from State EC, Arakan National Party (ANP), Arakan League for Democracy (ALD), National League for Democracy (NLD), Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and chiefs of state-level government department.
