Yangon Region

  • On Wednesday night, there were arrests of a second-year student from Ward (19), who posted the photo of Hlaingthaya Ward (13) administrator being shot dead, on social media and other 6 young people who shared that post. Reportedly, they will be sent to a military court.
  • At about 10:30 am, Ko Moe Gyi, junta-appointed administrator who lives in Thandadar street of Sanchaung Township, was shot in the ear and sent to hospital. Afterwards, the armed forces blocked Tayote Gyaung, Kyungtaw, Thandadar and Baho roads and tightened security.
  • There was an explosion at NLD headquarters in Bahan Township as a car had been used to place a bomb on Wednesday night. According to CCTV records, it was the same car which had been previously used to catch some party leaders in the headquarters.
  • Young residents in Shwepyitha Township made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship.
  • There are social media campaigns calling for a flower strike on 19th June, the birthday of public leader Daw Aung San Su Kyi, for the spring revolution heroes who have been in detention. The strike will include activities such as women wearing flowers in their hair, men putting flowers in their chest, placing flower pots in front of houses and hanging flower pots at home.
  • According to a BBC broadcast at about 5:00 pm Thursday, actor Zenki and his family were released from house arrest after more than 40 days. Reportedly, they are now outside of the country.

Mandalay Region

  • In Myingyan, armed forces arrested Ko Kyaw Thet Oo or Phyawtee at his house in Ward (9) last night.
  • Myingyan Township Public Movement Committee (General Strike), in cooperation with Ba-Kha-Tha Myingyan, expressed their desires, holding sign boards which says - “We, people from the mountains and the mainland, are in unity”.
  • At noon Thursday, the rally of Man Engineer Family took to the streets and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • The rally of Man Mya Taung took to the streets, including Manaw Hari Road, and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • The rally of Man Aung Pinle took to the streets calling for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • Man gems traders and brokers made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship.
  • Armed forces arrested Ko Nay Myo Linn, chief editor of Mandalay-based Voice of Myanmar - VOM news station, and journalist Ko Shine Aung on 27th April after calling them into the palace compound for enquiries. After 50 days and more, they have been released on Thursday. Despite the announcement that VOM would stop all their broadcasting activities after the arrest of their chief editor, a VOM journalist was present at the press conference of the military council on 14th June.

Bago Region

  • Ko Thet Naing Win, former DVB journalist in Min Hla Township and freelance journalist at Bago Weekly Journal and Voice of Midland, was charged with Section 505 (a). He has now been sentenced to 3 years in prison. He was arrested at a tea-shop in Min Hla on 6th April and the verdict came out at noon on Wednesday.
  • On Pyinsi Road in Bago Township, there were bomb explosions at three offices under control of the military junta. At about 9:30 am, there were explosions at the Ward (6) administration office and the revenue office. The administrator was injured in the explosion and so was an office helper. At noon, another explosion happened at the electricity office.

Ayeyarwady Region

  • On Wednesday night, armed forces arrived at Hlaeswe village in Kyone Pyaw and arrested a local resident. The reason for the arrest is still unknown.
  • 30 out of non-CDM teachers in Kan Gyi Daunk are now in CDM.

Sagaing Region

  • According to the instructions of the military junta through the monk organizations, if there are any monks or nuns from outside townships who are currently staying in Sagaing Region, they must report it to the township monk organization, the office of religious affairs and the administration office.
  • Across-the-Border Lightening-&-Thunder group claimed that it was due to their informer-clearance activities that saw the death of Kyaw Lwin on the night of 14th June in Ywamon Taung village of Tantse and in the death of Than Win from Daunk Gyi village on the morning of 16th June. Their clearance operations also covered the cases of three people in I-Taung village of Kani Township and five people in Chintwin Valley.
  • In Mutaung village of Kani Township, Ko Sein Maung Ni, who was pro-NLD, was shot dead in the head at home on Wednesday night. According to the locals, it was done by Pyu Saw Htee, an armed group backed by the military.
  • Near I-Gyi village of Kawlin Township, there were exchanges of fire between local PDF and the military at about 4:00 am Thursday. Due to the firing of the military, Daw Pwe Kyi, a woman over the age of 50 died. Reportedly, 15 young and middle-aged men have been arrested. Giving the excuse of the information that weapons are being made and military training is being conducted in that village, a total of 100 soldiers arrived there in 16 cars and started firing at 4:00 am and 7:00 am. Daw Pwe Kyi was hit with a bullet as she tried to escape to seek refuge.
  • At 9:00 pm last night, a 29-year old man was shot dead by an unknown armed group in a village of Kani Township. Reportedly, he had been sleeping at home with his family when the group entered the house, looked at him with the flashlight and shot him in the head. He was the bread-winner of an ordinary family, not an informer for the military.
  • Pale PDF announced that timber thieves and brokers from Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park, where a lot of valuable trees grow, will be regarded as people who are stealing the resources of the country and they are in danger for their lives.
  • Hundreds of protesters from the villages in North Salingyi and East Yinmarbin take to the streets every day without fail, holding posters - “We will win”.
  • At the funeral of the monk in Benwe Chaung village of Yinmarbin Township, the villagers made a three-finger protest against the military dictatorship.
  • The local residents of Lat Badaung in Salingyi Township made a public protest and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • With 3 military cars, armed forces raided the house of Ko Phyo Wai Lyan, the leader of Monywa Amyint village strike, for the second time on Thursday morning. During their first raid, they took away a computer, rice bags and political documents.
  • At Amyint village in Monywa, armed forces demolished the memorial, which had been set in honor of the birthday of Daw Aung San Su Kyi in 2010. They also destroyed the sign board of NLD office and set it on fire in the middle the road.
  • Protesters from Monywa General Strike went to the Monywa-Thazi road on their motorbikes and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • Monywa Heroes Group announced on Thursday that informers for the junta should leave Monywa and if they don’t, the group would effectively do what they have to do.
  • As the military and Pyu Saw Htee members are making raids in the villages of Minkin Township; Ton, Kyaukketat, Ywathitgon, Bai, Pintin, Fakkat and Koneyin, the villagers have had to run away.
  • A rally of the villagers in Butalin Township went round the villages and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • The curfew hour from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am and Section (144) of the assembly of no more than five people have been extended for two more months in Mittila Township.
  • Tamu Security Group TSG said that their social media account should be used securely as there are enquiries about the armed revolution via social media.
  • Kalay residents went round the town Thursday evening, raising sign boards carrying anti-junta slogans.

Magwe Region

  • In Pakokku, the body of Ko Phone Kyaw, secretary of Township PPP party and said to be an informer to the military, was found Wednesday with 13 knife wounds. He was a resident in Aung Thapyay street (8), Hsin Pauk Hla Ward in Pakokku. He had been missing for five days.
  • At 7:30 pm on Wednesday, two men on a motorbike shot at the police at the Myanmar Economic Bank in Taungdwingyi Township. A policeman fell down, but details about the injury are not yet known.
  • Reportedly, the number of education staff members in Taungdwingyi, who join CDM, is on the rise, up to 120.
  • Wednesday evening, the husband and wife, who own Aung Myint Mo businesses in Pakokku, were reportedly arrested for donating to Mindat IDPs. The arrests have yet to be confirmed.
  • On Thursday, the National Unity Government (NUG) announced their strong condemnation in relation to the deaths of two elderly people in a fire lit by the military at Kinma village of Pauk Township. The Yangon-based US embassy also issued a report that said such terrifying actions are in consistent with the previous cruelty of the military towards ethnic groups and all religions, and that the military keeps showing that they don’t care about human lives. The newspaper under the control of the military junta described the incident at Kinma village, claiming terrorists attacked the security forces on patrol and set fire to the houses in the village.
  • There were two explosions at Thayet on the early morning of Thursday. At about 5:40 am, an explosion happened under a car parked at the junction of Aung Mingala street and Theingyi street in Taung Minte Ward. About 10 minutes later, another explosion happened under the portico of the house of an executive officer of city development, located in Lanmadaw street, Myauk Minte Ward.
  • The people in Nutmauk expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

Tanintharyi Region

  • On Thursday morning, Dawei variety forces, in cooperation with the youth-affairs rally, marched in the town and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship. In addition, they set fire to the products of the military.
  • Dawei General Strike rally also expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • The residents of Thinkyun village of Thayetchaung Township conducted a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship.

Kachin State

  • The junta armed force Ka-Ma-Ya (438) came to Nwam Lant village in Moe Mauk Township Wednesday evening and stationed there with 7 military cars carrying rations and soldiers.
  • Wednesday night, there was a fire at an affiliated basic education middle school in Inle village of Hopin Township.
  • ·In Chihway Township, the military junta dismissed 179 education staff members who have joined CDM.
  • In Winemaw, the military junta dismissed 399 education staff members who have joined the CDM.
  • Amidst tight security with various sections by the military junta, the people in Moe Kaung made a motorbike parade at dawn and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • Despite being threatened by gunshots by the military, the people from Pha-Kant and Tarmakan Myothit made a motorbike protest and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.

Kayar State

  • Despite the announcement of KNDF on 15th June to temporarily cease fire, there was shooting by the military in Dimawso Township at about 8:15 pm Wednesday night.
  • With the permission of the township monk organization, 18 Buddhist monks conducted the funerals for a large number of bodies from Ngwe Taung of Dimawso on Wednesday at Ngwe Taung graveyard. It has been difficult to be able to identify some of the bodies as they had been reduced to skeletons. They are said to be the bodies of people shot dead. According to PKPF on Thursday, nearly 20 civilians died in the shooting by the military in Dimawso and Moepye.

Kayin State

  • Regarding the news of KNDO having killed 25 civilians, who had been working at Oo-Hu stream bridge construction in Myawaddy District on 31st May, a team would be formed for investigation, according to the KNU.
  • An agreement was reached in the unity committee to form a working team to settle the battles and shooting among Kayin armed forces. The working team will consist of representatives from the KNLA, KNU/KNLA,-PC, DKBA and BGF.
  • According to the KNU, the military called the village heads in Kyauk Kyi Township and threatened that they would set fire to the villages if the schools are not opened.
  • The people from Kyar Inseik Kyi expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

Chin State

  • In Matubi, armed forces arrested Salai Peter at his house near the bus terminal at about 9:40 pm last night.
  • Binjamin from Myanmar Idol, who had been COVID-19 positive in Mizoram, India, has tested negative after quarantine. He has been raising funds for Chin IDPs.

Mon State

  • Theinzayat PDF warned the military junta not to ask CDM staff members and non-CDM ones by force for the repayment of interest-free two-month salary loans permitted by the NLD government. They will make counter punishments if the military does it by force.
  • The youth in Paung Township held a protest for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • Mawlamyein, Theinzayat and Paung PDFs in Mon State announced that they have cooperated with five common agreements to fight against the military junta.
  • The students and the public from Kyaik Hto expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • The youth in Mawlamyein made indoors protests against the military dictatorship and called for help for IDPs all across the country.

Shan State

  • Armed forces placed barricades in BEHS (1), (3), (4), (5) and (6) of Taunggyi, giving the excuse to check the attendant list of students.
  • At Hopite 9-mile divergent point on the way from Lasho to Theinni, the road was blocked with earth. A bypass was opened. It is still unknown how the road was blocked.
  • Two teachers from BEMS (2) in Nammatu Township tested COVID-19 positive. Reportedly, the school will be closed temporarily.
  • It was found out that the passengers from Mandalay to Nammatu were COVID-19 positive. Therefore, Shwe Nammatu, Ngwe Yadanar Lam and Kyel Thone Lone express services will be closed for 10 days starting yesterday.
  • The locals in Thipaw made a “human-less” strike, writing anti-junta words on pieces of colourful paper.
  • Kyaw Thet Oo or Sai Hsai Wan Oo was arrested on 8th March for holding the flag of Shan State. He has just been sentenced to two years in prison with the charge of Section 505 (a).

Rakhine State

  • 6 soldiers, who had been detained by AA in Kyaukkyat village of Mrauk-U Township, were transferred to the military yesterday afternoon.
  • In Ang Township, the military will destroy expired arms. They will do it five times per day. Those weapons and arms are from the arms collection army (345).

Nay Pyi Taw

  • The military junta announced the change of raised number plates for motor vehicles. Those plates will include the representative township and type of the vehicle.
  • Myanmar football team, who went to Japan for World Cup screening, is now back in the country. However, Pyae Hlyan Aung, the goal keeper who protested against the military dictatorship with the three fingers salute, did not return home. He is still in Japan where he is seeking refuge.
  • David Johnston, deputy head of Australia Defence Force and deputy general of marine force, requested Deputy Senior General Soe Win yesterday not to use violence against civilians, adopt democracy practices again and free the people in detention.
  • There are ceremonies for the completion of NDF officer Batch (1), comprising former comrades of ABSDF, and Urban Guerrilla Force Batch (7). The NUG will accept NDF as PDF.
  • The central bank under the control of military junta is putting pressure on private banks to target financial transactions in A/C transfer, digital payments and permit the withdrawal of cash at 50% of the businesses from one time to three times per month.

Summary on 17th June

  • In Yangon, guerrilla protests are silent today. There are assassinations of the traitors and the arrests with suspicion in relation to those cases. Security is tightened, especially in the townships where pro-military people have been assassinated. There are also more installations of CCTV cameras in some city areas.
  • In Mandalay, public protests are still ongoing. They ended successfully without any crackdown. Although there are incoming and outgoing people at ward administration offices, they don’t work there. Instead, they work at township administration offices. Security measures are being raised in the city and patrols are still being conducted.
  • In Kayah (Dimawso), there was shooting by the military on Wednesday night although local PDFs ceased fire. 20 bodies were found and it’s difficult to identify them as they had been reduced to bones.
  • There has been fighting between the military and local PDFs from Sagaing Kani, Minkin and Katha. The military is making raids even into the villages where there are no defence forces. So, the inhabitants of whole villages have had to run away.
  • In other states and regions, people still take to the streets. In some areas, the military shot into the air as a threat.
  • The military is hiding the economic damages due to international sanctions and anti-junta movements in the country. They are making arrangements to control the cash of businesses through banks and collect new taxes. Amidst the pressure against the CDM, there are more and more education staff members who have joined the CDM. It has impact on the schooling process and thus, the military is putting on more pressure to reopen schools.
