Myanmar's Union Election Commission (UEC) on Tuesday announced the removal of some townships in two states from the list of no-voting areas for the upcoming general elections, Xinhua reported.

On Oct. 16, the commission called off polls in some places of Bago region, Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan states, citing that the areas do not meet a condition to hold free and fair elections.

Due to reports by respective sub-election commissions and ministries, the commission Tuesday removed three village tracts in Kyaukphyu township and four village tracts in Ann township of Rakhine state from the list of no-voting areas.

Meanwhile, one ward in Muse township and one village tract each in Lashio and Kunlong township of Shan state were also removed from the list, respectively, the commission said.
