At least six parties have decided not to broadcast their election campaign speeches on state-run radio and TV after they alleged the Union Election Commission (UEC) censored their speeches. According to information available until October 4, 10 parties have suffered censorship by UEC and six boycotted broadcasting their speeches on state-run media.

The six parties are People’s Party (PP), United Nationalities Democratic Party (UNDP), Democratic Party for a New Society (DPNS), Arakan Front Party (AFP), Union Danu League for Democracy (UDLD) and Chin National League for Democracy (CNLD).

UDLD Chairman Tin Maung Oo told Mizzima that they had to decide not to take part in broadcasting their campaign speech on media after UEC censored important and critical parts of text and themes from their campaign speech. Mizzima repeatedly contacted UEC to get their comments and opinions on this issue but it available.
