Magway Region government Minister of Security and Border Affairs Col. Min Oo said that the government has tightened security in the region and is conducting more security checks and inspections after the attacks in Pyinoolwin and Nawgnkio.

Checkpoints manned by security personnel were deployed at 24 places in Magway Region for security measures and also CCTV cameras are installed on inter-State/Region highways for monitoring the situation.

“We did such security measures in the past too. We had incidents of arresting undocumented migrants coming from Rakhine and going to Yangon and Malaysia. So we conducted these security measures in our region in the past too,” Col. Min Oo added.

At checkpoints, combined forces of staff from Ministry of Immigration and Ministry of Home Affairs, General Administration Department (GAD), police personnel and various departments are reportedly operating.
