Reshuffle likely in forthcoming Yangon Region Legislative Assembly extraordinary session

A Tatmadaw (Defence Services)-appointed legislator will be appointed as Minister of Border Affairs and Security in the Yangon Region government in the forthcoming extraordinary session of the Yangon Region Legislative Assembly.

The speaker of the Yangon Assembly notified all legislators that the extraordinary session of the Yangon Assembly (4/2020) would be convened on July 22.

Legislator Hla Htay from Mingla Taung Nyunt constituency (1) said, “A nomination will be made for replacing current Border Affairs and Security Minister in the cabinet. And then it will be presented to assembly session for approval. And another agenda is to replace some Tatmadaw-appointed legislators with new ones. And the next agenda in business of this extraordinary session is to approve the Yangon Region budget estimate for the 2020-21 financial year presented to Union Parliament.”

In the extraordinary session (2/2020), a new Tatmadaw-appointed legislator, Col. Thant Zin Oo, was inducted into the Yangon Region Legislative Assembly and some legislators speculated that he would likely to be appointed as new Minister for Border Affairs and Security in the Yangon Region government cabinet.
