A part of a palace wall in Sri Ksetra, one of the ancient Pyu cities, collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Bago region in the early hours of Tuesday, according to Xinhua quoting Arkar Kyaw, deputy director-general of Religious Affairs and Culture.

Established around 4th to 9th century AD, Sri Ksetra lies 8 km southeast of Pyay, Bago region and about 290 km northwest of Yangon.

In 2014, three Myanmar's ancient Pyu cities -- Hanlin, Beikthano and Sri Ksetra -- respectively located in Sagaing, Magway and Bago regions, won designations as UNESCO world heritage sites.
