Myanmar's Union Parliament on Monday agreed to a proposal on condemning the abduction of an ethnic parliamentarian in western Chin state and demanding unconditional release of him, Xinhua reported.

The proposal, submitted by a parliamentarian of Mandalay constituency last Wednesday, said the Arakan Army (AA)'s lawless acts made no contribution to the efforts by the government and any organization in seeking national reconciliation and domestic peace.

U Wai Thin, ethnic Chin parliamentarian to the House of Nationalities (Upper House ), was kidnapped along with several other people involved in the Kaladan River project when they travelled from Paletwa to Kyauktaw on Nov. 3.
