The National League for Democracy (NLD) central executive committee member Dr. Myo Nyunt told Mizzima that the rumours of the Yangon Mayor being under investigation for corruption was untrue and misinformation.

The rumour that Maung Maung Soe and family members are under investigation by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is circulating on social media. The rumours say that ACC is investigating a complaint received by them of alleged wrongdoings in giving land lease grants and permissions on business expansion programmes.

ACC spokesman Kyaw Soe said that they were not authorized to disclose receipts of complaints on corruption and investigations as per the provisions of ACC law.
