National registration cards (NRCs) also known as citizenship scrutiny cards, have been issued to students, locals, and orphans from 28 townships of Mandalay Region under the Thitsa project at Mandalay City Hall in Chanayethazan Township, state media reported.

The project was launched under the leadership of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, and Population and the Mandalay Region Government, with the support of United Pacific Co. Ltd and Advanced Myanmar Star Co. Ltd. At the opening ceremony of the project, the Union Minister for Labour, Immigration, and Population, U Thein Swe, pointed out the increasing importance of immigration functions due to the rising number of tourists, potential investors, and other visitors from abroad.

The ministry has been issuing certain types of cards for the people depending on the result of their scrutinizing process, he said. He said the census conducted in 2014 is supportive to the adoption of the national development plans.
