If the figures can be relied upon, Myanmar appears to be on the mend when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic. In terms of testing, 363 people tested positive on January 29 compared with a high of 2,158 on October 10, 2020.

In addition, the overall death figures blamed on the virus stand at 3,125, a number that has seen little significant growth over the last few weeks.

As of 31 January, the total number of COVID-19 positive tests stood at 139,864, with 124,441 recorded as recovered.

A key factor when assessing how the country has been doing with the pandemic are the deaths per million. The figure stands at 57, a substantial difference compared to say the USA which stands at 1,356.

Overall the COVID-19 appears to show a high survival rate of over 99%, even though the world total is registered at 2.2 million deaths, a disputed figure as many of the deaths involve other conditions and diseases.
