Myanmar president receives holy gift from his Indian counterpart

The Myanmar president was given a special holy gift from his counterpart during his state visit to India.

Emphasising shared religious and cultural ties between the two sister civilisations, Indian President Ram Nath Kovind gifted holy soil from eight cities - Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, Rajgir, Pataliputra, Shravasti, Vaishali and Kushinagar- connected with the life of Lord Buddha to President of Myanmar.

Earlier, India and Myanmar on signed 10 agreements, including four aimed at boosting development of Rakhine state to facilitate the return of Rohingya refugees, during President Win Myint’s visit to India.

The Myanmar president met his Indian counterpart Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and external affairs minister S Jaishankar, among others, during his state visit.
