A hundred forty-eight Myanmar migrant workers including seamen stranded in the United Arab Emirates-UAE and Dubai Port were returned home by Fly Dubai Airlines yesterday, state media reported.

When they arrived at the airport, officials from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, Ministry of Health and Sports, and Yangon Region Government carried out measures to ensure returnees receive 21-day quarantine at designated places and hotels in complying with the directives and health guidelines of the ministries concerned.

So far, 1113 Myanmar nationals from foreign countries including Japan, India, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Bangladesh, Singapore, USA, Britain, Indonesia and UAE have returned home.

Erratum: Yesterday’s story inaccurately recorded 113 Myanmar nationals from foreign countries as returning, it has was updated on 12 May 2020 to record 1113 as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Facebook page.
