The press statement says that these party campaign billboards are erected just 200 feet away from brick-bridge near the main gate of local army unit in Hmawbi Township on September 15, near the bus stop on Yangon-Pyi highway.

The billboards in question belong to the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), Union Betterment Party (UBP) and the National League for Democracy (NLD) party.

Regarding this issue, NLD central executive committee member Dr. Myo Nyunt told Mizzima that billboards are supposed to be erected in compliance with the law.

He said the party would act accordingly if these billboards were violating any laws.

Yangon Region, Northern District Election Commission branch Chairman Maung Hmwe said, “We are told that they have already settled this issue through negotiations. We received phone complaint on this matter but not yet received official complaint letter. The political parties used these campaign billboards during the campaign period. The political parties are entitled to use these campaign billboards by getting permission from local municipal committees and by paying rates and rents.”

He also said that they had negotiation and settlement committees for dealing with such disputes and complaints.

The press statement issued by Tatmadaw True News Information Team says that USDP and UBP have already shifted their campaign billboards to the other side of the road on September 15 and 16 respectively but the NLD billboard is still in that place so that they would inform send a reminder to the election commissions.
