Japan will help Myanmar tackle a refuse issue that has created a headache for its largest city of Yangon, NHK world reported.
Yangon has been struggling with huge piles of rubbish left behind at sites on its outskirts. These sites are close to reaching their capacities.
The problems range from foul odours and other types of environmental pollution to methane gas ignition.
Under a deal signed on Monday in Yangon, the Japanese government will offer about 5.4 million dollars in grant aid to build a new landfill disposal site.
