The government peace negotiators and the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement – Signatories Ethnic Armed Organisations (NCA-S EAOs) agreed to convene the meetings of Joint Monitoring Committee at Union Level (JMC-U) in early July, state media reported.

The Strengthening Ceasefire Working Group meeting was held at the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre in Yangon yesterday morning.

The meeting discussed ceasefire related matters, the maintaining and strengthening of the ceasefire and preparations for JMC-U and general issues.

The JMC-U meeting is scheduled to convene on 7 and 8 July.
