Myanmar plans to push ahead with a November general election despite calls from opposition parties to postpone it because of a surge in COVID-19 cases, Reuters reported quoting officials.

According to a Xinhua report 320 more infection cases were reported on Tuesday morning, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 6,471 and deaths to 100.

Parties had already halted campaigning in Yangon on Monday after authorities imposed a citywide lockdown.
