United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has started distribution of 165 tons of emergency food supplies in Paletwa where Tatmadaw (Defence Services) and Arakan Army are fighting.

A press statement released by WFP says that the emergency food supplies include rice, pulses, edible oil, salt and energy nutrients for over 4,000 people and it will be sufficient for them for about two months.

In the press statement, WFP country resident representative for Myanmar Stephen Anderson said, “We could send these emergency food supplies to Paletwa despite unrest and instability in Paletwa region thanks to the Chin State government and officials at different levels.”

Mr. Stephen Anderson added that it needed to provide humanitarian assistances to these people continuously as families in Paletwa were facing loss of livelihoods and jobs.
