COVID-19 confirmed case patient number 4 tests negative in third test

Deputy Medical Superintendent of Mandalay General Hospital Dr. Khin Kyaw told Mizzima that the fourth person to be found as a confirmed Covid-19 case admitted to Kandawnadi hospital in Mandalay has now tested negative in a third test.

This patient is in good condition and he reportedly no longer needs oxygen for life support.

Mandalay General Hospital Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Khin Kyaw said, “Yes, he tested negative in third test result obtained on April 2. In the first and second tests, the lab results were positive and now he tests negative in the third test.”

The No. 4 confirmed case male patient is a Myanmar origin naturalized US citizen and he arrived in Yangon, Myanmar on March 19 from the United States.

Before proceeding to Mandalay from Yangon, this confirmed case patient number 4 stayed one night at a house in South Okkalapa Township, Yangon and he arrived in Mandalay on March 20 by night bus.

On March 22 he got symptoms of fever, cough and exhaustion and he visited Mandalay General Hospital for treatment. The Mandalay General Hospital designated him as a COVID-19 suspect case and referred him to Kandawnadi hospital for further treatment. On March 27, the Ministry of Health and Sports confirmed his case as a COVID-19 positive patient number 4 in its announcement.

According to the announcements made by Myanmar’s Ministry of Health and Sports, there are a total of 20 confirmed cases until April 2 in the evening. Out of them, one patient died on March 31 with pre-existing conditions.
