CALL FOR ANDALAS UNIVERSITY (UNIVERSITAS ANDALAS/UNAND) SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS - INDONESIA ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021

Andalas University (Universitas Andalas/UNAND) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Yangon, offers scholarship to Myanmar nationals. The University is located in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The scholarship aims to encourage more beneficial cooperation between Indonesia and Myanmar.

UNAND, established in 1956, is the oldest university outside of Java Island and the fourth oldest university in Indonesia. Its main campus in Padang covers 500 ha area. In 2009, UNAND ranks 11th of the best universities in Indonesia and it has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students’ past academic record and grades. Currently, the university owns 15 faculties and 8 Postgraduate Programs; and is a home to almost 25000 students.

The Postgraduate Programs includes 6 Master’s Degree Programs, namely Bio-Technology, Counselling and Development Communication, Area and Rural Development, Environmental science, Integrated Management of Natural Resources, and Housing and Residence Development; and two Doctorate Degree Programs, namely Agricultural Science and Development Studies.

Myanmar nationals are encouraged to apply for the Master’s Degree scholarship.

Eligibility for the Scholarship
A. Applicants should:

Be nationals of Myanmar;
As it is for Master’s Degree Scholarship, applicants should be under 35 years;
Provide a Curriculum Vitae;
Provide a copy of university certificate of graduation and have a GPA at least 3 out of 4; 
Have at least a TOEFL Score of 550 or IELTS score of 5.5;
If the required documents are in Myanmar Language, provide an authenticated English translation of each document by the authorized institution.

B. The Scholarship Package

Return economy airfare between Myanmar and Padang, Indonesia;
Tuition fees and basic medical insurance;
Indonesian Language Course;
Monthly stipend to cover living expenses equivalent to local living cost;
Accommodation; 
Visa application expenses; and
Support for thesis expenses.

C. How to apply

Provide all the required documents and submit them to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia not later than 6 February 2020. Once fulfilled, the Embassy in cooperation with UNAND will contact the applicants to share information on how to proceed.
