Yangon Region legislative assembly legislator Tin Tun Naing from North Dagon constituency told Mizzima that a bank robbery happened at Yangon Region, North Dagon branch of CB Bank on Friday morning and the robbers planted a bomb before leaving the branch but it was later found to be fake.

“Yangon Region government Minister of Security and Border Affairs and responsible officials concerned inspected the bomb planted in the bank branch and it has completed now. Then it was found to be fake,” he said.

According to preliminary news received, two robbers committed the bank robbery and they reportedly stole over 60 million kyats.

In this incident, a gunman entered the bank branch at No. 35 Ward of North Dagon Township, Yangon Region, soon after the branch opened for business for the day and then they reportedly left the fake bomb at the bank branch before leaving.

After committing the bank robbery, the robbers fled using a Toyota Probox taxi waiting in front of the bank branch. The police are investigating this case.
