The ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) party said State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, in her capacity as the chairperson of the NLD party and President U Win Myint as the Vice Chairman of the party will launch campaign from Thursday for the upcoming general election, Xinhua reported.

The move came after the decision of the party's executives meeting.

The Union Election Commission (UEC) has decided to hold the 2020 General Election on Nov. 8.

The UEC granted candidates who are cabinet members of governmental bodies and deputy ministers to begin campaigning for the election.
