About 600 special police set for polling station security duty in Myeik

Officials say 577 special police will be appointed for security duty at polling stations in four townships of Myeik District for the polling day of November 8, 2020 general election.

Myeik District Police Force officiating Pol. Lt. Col. Kyaw Moe Thet said that special police training would be conducted from October 1 to 28 at a camp for trainees.

These 577 special police personnel will be deployed in four townships of Myeik District namely Myeik, Palaw, Kyunsu and Tanintharyi and they would be provided a constable salary, daily allowance, ration allowance and police uniform.

According to a press statement issued by Tanintharyi Region Police Force Chief Office, 1,170 special police were also appointed in the 2015 general elections.

It is learned that the prime task of these special police personnel is for security duty at their designated polling stations on polling date. In this special police force training, Police Discipline Act, Criminal Procedure Act and Election Law will be mainly taught and also they will be given training on human rights, media ethics and so forth.
