Myanmar reported 1,197 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to a release from the Ministry of Health and Sports Xinhua reported.

The newly confirmed cases brought the number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 55,804.

A total of 25 more COVID-19 deaths were also reported in the country on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 1,307, the release said.

According to the ministry's figures, 39,063 patients have been discharged from hospitals so far.
